UMCOR has sent an additional grant for earthquake relief in El Salvador. More than 1 ½ million people are homeless--nearly one-fifth of the population. This UMCOR grant will provide plastic sheeting, nails and other materials to construct temporary shelters in two communities that have received no other assistance. Please give to UMCOR Advance #511447 "El Salvador Earthquake."

Recent severe storms in Mississippi destroyed 120 homes and caused major damage to more than 200 additional homes. UMCOR has sent a grant to the Mississippi Annual Conference to provide relief in the communities of Columbus and Starkville. The suffering of internally displaced persons in Afghanistan has been exacerbated by an extremely cold winter. Many women, children, and elderly persons living in camps have died of exposure. UMCOR has sent a grant through ACT (Action by Churches Together) to provide humanitarian relief. Please give to UMCOR's International Disaster Response, Advance #982450 to enable UMCOR to respond to this and other critical situations.
More than 500 rural villages in the area devastated by the earthquake in India have suffered tremendous damage and loss. The needs are overwhelming. UMCOR's partner in India, CASA (Church's Auxiliary for Social Action) continues to distribute relief goods to the poorest of the poor in these villages. Please continue your generous gifts to "South Asia Earthquake" Advance #274305. UMCOR will be working for years to come to assist with recovery from this and other natural disasters in India.
Gifts may be made through local United Methodist churches, or by calling 1-800-554-8583. Credit card donations are accepted. (Read more about how you can help UMCOR's emergency responses.)
