News Alert: Deadly November 10 Storms: How You Can Help.
November 8, 2002: UMCOR is sending an initial grant of $10,000 to the Southwest Texas Conference to help respond to damage caused by a tornado that hit the Corpus Christi area a few weeks ago. Over the last months, this part of Texas has been hard hit by storms and floods. UMCOR is grateful to be in partnership with United Methodists and others who have sent contributions to its Domestic Disaster Response Advance. Please continue to give to #901670-1 so that UMCOR can respond quickly to requests such as these.
Because of the millions of people suffering from hunger due to a food shortage, the United Methodist bishops issued The Church Wide Appeal for Southern Africa Famine last July. Since then, the number of people affected has become even greater than anticipated. You can help people stay alive in Southern Africa by giving Advance #101250-4.
As Advent approaches, why not think of ways to give to others? Order UMCOR Christmas cards. Proceeds from the sales of these cards will support UMCOR's ministries. UMCOR's Sager Brown Depot needs to replenish its supply of emergency kits. Since September 11, 2001, donations of material resources to the depot have slowed dramatically. Both items donated in quantity and completed kits can be used.
