area of church development and evangelism at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University.
He began his candidacy at Herrin United
Methodist Church. He has served at Energy and Hope Chapel UMC in the Carbondale District, St. James and Chalybeate Springs UMC in Manchester, GA, Immanuel and Noble UMC in the Olney District and has just finished the work of planting a new United
Methodist congregation in Highland, Illinois called Highland Hope in the Mississippi River District. On July 1, 1999 he was assigned to start a second church in Waterloo, Illinois. He was admitted into probationary membership in 1994 and ordained an
Elder on May 30, 1996. Troy serves as the Chairperson of the Mississippi River District's task force on New Congregational Development within the Illinois Great Rivers Conference. Troy was invited and inducted into the World Evangelism/World Methodist
Council "Order of the FLAME" -Faithful Leaders as Mission Evangelists- in 1999.
At the 1999 Illinois Great Rivers Conference he received the Harry S. Denman Award for Evangelism. He was also elected as the 2nd alternate to the 2000 North Central
Jurisdictional Conference in Madison, Wisconsin.
Troy lists his hobbies as golf, cooking and hunting. His most influential books other than the Bible, include "Father Arseny 1893-1973 Priest, Prisoner, Spiritual Father", "Jesus CEO" & "Jesus in
Blue Jeans" by Laurie Beth Jones and "My Utmost for His Highest" by Oswald Chambers. One of his favorite long standing writers is Max Lucado. Troy and his wife, Beth, have four children, Heather, Joshua, Caleb, and Megan.
Rev. Troy’s calling is to
be involved in new church starts and development. He leads conferences on church development and is the author of the book "Making a Church from Scratch" published by Bristol House Ltd.
