up through the ranks in the Army where he was the Division Chief of the Counter Narcotics Division for Headquarters Second Continental United States Army.
There he managed combined Defense Department resources throughout the Southeastern United States, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands, in their coordination with federal and state law enforcement agencies in the Presidents National War on
Drugs.
Rev. Gerald L. Savage has attended numerous colleges and universities throughout the United States and Europe. He completed his undergraduate degree at Duguense University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with degrees in Criminology
and Political Science. He attended the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia and received his Masters of Divinity from Gammon Theological Seminary in 1997.
He is an Army brat and has traveled and lived throughout the
world. Some of his military schooling includes attendance at Command and General Staff College, Organizational Effectiveness Staff College, the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute, the Defense Intelligence Institute and the FBI
Academy.
He began his ministry at Andrews Chapel UMC, Jonesboro, Georgia, Griffin District, North Georgia Conference where he student pastored the three Church Charge of Hampton Parish. While there he co-founded the “Youth Empowerment Project”, a
comprehensive initiative for “at risk” youth which received governors honors. He also served on The Board of Director’s of The Simpsonwood United Methodist Conference and Retreat Center, the Carter Project and was the executive assistant to the Director
at the Center for Health and Development in Atlanta, GA.
He is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the United Way, the Leslie Bates Neighborhood House and the Greater Illinois Conference Academy for Servant Leadership. He was
recently recommended by the Department of the newly formed East Saint Louis Housing Board of Commissioners. Rev. Savage graduated from the first class of Meridian High School, in Mounds, Illinois. He has three lovely children Jamahl,
Jameta, Jamaine. |
