He is married to Gloria McLean, a registered nurse, and they have two children, Rebecca and Edward, and two granddaughters, Tatyana and Teresa.
Dr. McLean
is a native of Guyana, South America, where he was educated in the public schools of Georgetown. His credentials include the General Certificate of Education and the Senior Cambridge Certificate from London and Oxford Universities, a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Sociology from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, a Master’s of Divinity from St. Paul School of Theology, Kansas City, and a Ph.D. in Historical Theology from St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. McLean has served as
President of a Metropolitan Church--based Community Organization (MECCO) involving 21 churches and agencies in the East St. Louis community, a member of the Board of Ordained Ministry (8 years) in the North Indiana Conference, and on a variety of
ecumenical, interfaith and community organizations during his 32 years of witness and service in the U.S.
Dr. McLean is also the Historian/Theologian-in-residence of the African Orthodox Church in the U.S., and the author of several works
including "A Theology of Marcus Garvey", "Models of Black Theology in the Faith Community", "The Evolution of the Black Church in the U.S.", "Toward a Theology of A Developing Nation", "A Clergy-Lay Partnership in Mission", and has written several
articles.
