Opportunities for Non-Hispanic Churches in Hispanic Ministry
God created us as people of diverse origins and cultures. The Plan for Hispanic
Ministry calls the whole church to respond in faith to God's creative act:
- Survey your community to identify the number, national origins, and needs of Hispanics for ministry;
- Interact with Hispanics in your community and learn about their culture and history;
- Provide social services, outreach ministries, and advocacy needed by Hispanic people in your area;
- Explore ways of including Hispanics in your worship and congregational life or ways to share ministries with an Hispanic congregation;
- Recruit and support the training of lay missloners and pastor-mentors from your congregation or area;
- Cooperate with other UM churches and ecumenical efforts for ministry with Hispanics in your community;
- Support mission initiatives among Hispanics with prayers, volunteers, and / or financial contributions;
- Contribute to the National Hispanic Ministries Challenge Fund Advance.
