Santhal woman reading big Bible

Dr. J. S. Murthy, our colleague from Jabalpur, India, traveled to the Calcutta/Asanol region. He reports on how mission schools established by the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society continue to fulfil their mandates today, as missions of the Methodist Church of India. These pioneer institutions continue to educate the poor and marginalized children of the indigenous Santhal people of the Pakur district.

A Santhal indigenous woman studies the Bible. Her studies are made possible by extension work of the Ushagram School in Asansol, a project of the Methodist Church in India.
