In this hour of grief and suffering, the Cuban Council of Churches wishes to convey that our prayers are raised to God so that the American people will feel His presence and mercy. We are united in fraternal love as brothers and sisters with the families of the victims.

In Christian love and fellowship we reiterate our deepest felt sympathy and our solidarity, trusting in the words of the psalmist:

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though
the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in
the heart of the sea;
though the waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble
with its tumult.
