REFUGEE CHILDREN PRAY TO RETURN HOME ONE DAY

Working in mission over the past year and a half has been a great experience for me. When I began the assignment with the children's ministry we had over 50 young people. With continuous effort we reached 120 children. The number continues to fluctuate as some of the children have left to be resettled in the States. Today, the children's ministry is one of the more vibrant arms of the church.

I have been able to help develop and provide resource materials for the Christian Education Department of the Methodist Church Ghana, and have traveled to some of the regions to help train Sunday School workers.

Thanks to UMCOR we were able to set up a Sunday School at the refugee camp. Presently, the kids club teaches Bible quizzing/drilling and arts and craft.

Working with children has changed me - especially my work with refugee children. Some of them do not even know their country, yet they always pray to one day go back home. It is an abnormal and desperate situation, but one where my life has gained deep meaning as I give of myself to these helpless children who are victims of war. I thank God every day for giving me this opportunity to work with them.
