Dianne Springer

Diane Springer is an Associate in Mission Service (AIMS) with the Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church assigned to the Red Bird Missionary Conference as Coordinator of Volunteer Services and Manager of the Community Clothing Store. Dianne also assists her husband, the Rev. Stephen Springer, pastor of Thousandsticks UMC.

The Clothing Store supplies clothing and other essential items at nominal cost to those in need in the impoverished Thousandsticks Community.

Reflecting on her experiences, Diane she recalls telling a boy of Jesus' love. “Nobody loves me,” he replied. Hugging him close, Diane told the boy “I love you and am so glad you are in my class. More importantly, Jesus loves you.” Dianne reveals that the glow in the boy’s eyes and the big smile on his face proved to her the importance of telling about God's love. “God's mission is carried out by caring, sharing, giving a kind word or an encouraging word, a hug and a smile, a loving word--all in the name of Jesus,” she concludes.

Dianne also chairs the mission committee at Thousandsticks UMC and holds several positions within the local and district United Methodist Women’s organization. A certified lay speaker, she has taught basic lay-speaker courses with her husband. She has also chaired the Heifer Project International Mid-Atlantic advisory committee and worked as a volunteer with the agency as well as participated in mission work teams to Kentucky, Mexico, Maryland, and Ecuador.

A native of Philadelphia, Dianne completed general studies at Shippensburg College in Shippensburg, PA, in 1962 and earned an AA in early childhood education from Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ in 1988. Before coming to Thousandsticks in 1992, she taught preschool for four years at St. Paul's Christian School in Brick, NJ.

Dianne and Steve have three children, Sarita, Mark, and Chase – all adults – and four grandchildren. Her mother is Florence Fulton of Ambler, PA, where she is a member of Oreland Presbyterian Church.
