When we first came to the United States, we went to the state of Texas to live in a refugee center. It was so crowded! The younger children would cry. We older ones were upset. We weren’t studying. We were bored.

The center found some wonderful church people who agreed to help us. They are called our sponsors, They helped us find an apartment. They helped us learn English and buy clothes. They taught us how to buy groceries. We went to their church; I liked the songs and the Jesus stories. My teacher told me that Jesus was once a refugee. Now I don’t feel so bad.
