This is the second newsletter to be issued by the General Board of Global Ministry's IN MISSION TOGETHER program, regarding activities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.  We have named it "DOHROMADY" which means "together", "between them" or "among them".

It has been one year since the first issue, and much has happened since then.  GBGM Consultant, Dick Arnold, made a second visit more UMCs and two UMC camps (a trip report is available).  Since then he has been contacting and visiting UMCs in the U.S. to tell the "story" of restoring

the church that bears Christ's name in the Czech Republic. You could help this ministry by; regular prayer, writing an article in your District or Conference newsletter about your involvement (send us a copy), talking to others about the IN MISSION TOGETHER ministry, and suggesting to us potential UMCs that might have an interest in such a partnership.

In this issue you will find articles about:

• the completion of the first UMC to be built in the Czech Republic in over 70 years,

• the commitment of several UMCs to become partners, but the need for more partner UMCs,
• Supt. Josef Cervenak and Lay Leader Ms. Jana Krizova's visit to the US,
• The North Texas Annual Conf. mission team visit to the Czech Republic UMC in 1999 and the establishment of an extensive partnership covenant with them,
• the addition of Slovakia to the IN MISSION TOGETHER effort,
• travel information, web sites and more.

MORE PARTNERS NEEDED

The Czech Republic and Slovakia United Methodist churches need more IN MISSION TOGETHER partner congregations.  By becoming a Partner Congregation, UMCs (or District and Conferences), may relate to a Czech Republic or Slovakia UMC in friendship, shared ministry, exchange visits and by providing financial and/or other assistance.

A separate set of Guidelines exist for IMT Partnerships, and are available upon request.  The annual amount requested or each Czech Republic or Slovakia church is $3600.  A UMC may contribute the entire amount, or join other churches in supporting a particular Czech Republic or Slovakia congregation.  In order to avoid duplications, linking a US UMC and a Czech Republic or Slovakia UMC is done through the office of the GBGM Consultant for the Czech Republic or Slovakia (Dick Arnold). Another reason is that other partners from Europe

and US Connecting Churches (CC) of World Methodist Council's World Evangelism program exist.  Currently only three Czech Republic UMCs have an IMT Partner Congregation and no Slovakia UMCs have one.  This means there are twenty five more opportunities: eleven UMCs and four emerging congregations in the Czech Republic and five UMCs and five preaching stations or emerging congregations in Slovakia who are in need of IMT partners.
