The Bible: Part II: This segment traces a variety of ways Christians have interpreted
the Bible historically. Maxine Clarke Beach is featured.
Mission in the 21st Century. A variety of missionaries will be needed to carry out
mission in the 21st century. This edition shows refugees returning to their native lands as
missionaries, youth as US2's and lay missioners, a medical doctor in Nepal and a deaconess/home
Missionary.
Humanity Comes of Age. Susanne and James Paul explore the challenges an aging
population presents to the world and the church. Older people in ministry are shown discovering
new ways to express their commitment to Jesus Christ.

In this first 1999 edition of Mission Magazine we see Christians making peace,
offering safe
haven to children, healing substance abuse and related violence and discovering oneness of spirit
through the music of the soul.
We visit Mozambique where the church is literally helping people to turn swords into
plowshares, and building a culture of peace.
In Oklahoma city, through the Positive Tomorrow Transition Center, the church helps
children affected by homelessness, family violence and abuse.

This special edition of Mission Magazine features United
Methodist work in the ecumenical mission study themes: Indonesia,
and, Refugees and Global Migration. In addition, it introduces the
spiritual growth life study, The Bible: Part I.
The Indonesia segment shows the work of the Methodist Church
of Indonesia and the Karo Batak Protestant Church, both of which are supported
by The General Board of Global Ministries. The Karo Batak Protestant Church
continues its heritage from the Evangelical United Brethren Church. Rev. Sonny
Cornelius guides the viewer through the important work of these churches.
The Refugee segment shows United Methodist work in
resettlement. It focuses on a refugee resident family of Sierra Leone who were in
Gambia and resettled by the Berea Ohio United Methodist Church. Refugees
from Bosnia and nations of the former Soviet Union are also resettled through
UMCOR.
The spiritual growth life study explores the origins of the Bible
and the meaning of the Bible in people's lives today.
