“My name is David Etienne. I am 7 years old. I live with my mother, father, 6 brothers, and 1 sister. My mother stays home to care for us. My father goes to work at a factory. Last year I became very ill. My mother took me to Grace Children’s Hospital where a doctor did many tests. He told my mother that I had tuberculosis and severe malnutrition. I stayed at Grace in Intensive Care for several months. Now I look and feel much better! When new children come to Grace, I tell them, “I was very swollen and sick when I came here. But look at me now. I am very different!” I love to have fun and make the other children laugh!”
