Improve the lives of people around the world by providing and coordinating administrative leadership to International, and National Ministries for The Women’s Division of The General Board of Global Ministries. Global Ministries is the mission agency of The United Methodist Church. Its offices are housed at The Interchurch Center, at 475 Riverside Drive in New York City.
The ideal candidate is a Member of The United Methodist Church, and has served in a leadership capacity for a large complex organization. The major accountability of this role would be held in overseeing and managing the work of the Women’s Division’s National and International Ministries, Deaconess and Home Missioner Offices. As the Assistant General Secretary, this person would be responsible for supervising personnel as assigned by the Deputy General Secretary; ensuring that staff within and on cross-functional teams work collectively for the purpose of fulfilling the goals and commitments of the Women’s Division. This person would also be responsible for monitoring, evaluating and recommending strategies for accomplishing short to long range goals, actions, and results for the Division. International and Domestic travel required; flexibility to work long hours and weekends.

A Master’s Degree or comparable educational experience required. In addition, Membership with The United Methodist Church is required; while membership with The United Methodist Women is desirable; some theological studies and business administration courses desirable. Ability to work with volunteers including volunteers working in leadership capacity.
