There is a lot of activity in Centralkirken in Oslo. The church is crowded with Methodists and a wide range of languages can be heard. Congregational renewalIt is The United Methodist Church in Northern Europe that is organizing the School of Congregational Development (SCD) in Oslo these days. More than 180 participants from eight countries are gathered in the Central Church. Until Sunday, renewal of congregations and planting of new ones will be the topic for intense days with lectures, workshops and fellowship. Northern EuropeThe United Methodist Church in Norway has the highest delegation at the conference. 80 participants from the Norwegian church are at the SCD. The organizers are very pleased with this number. The other participants number 34 from Sweden, 29 from Denmark, 14 from Finland, 6 from Estonia, 5 from Lithuania and 3 from Latvia. From the United States, The United Methodist Church has sent some of its most gifted and inspiring teachers. High activityFor The Central Church it has been full effort for several days. Yesterday, the work peaked with the arrival of all the participants. Thor Langbraathen says that he has a total of 21 ushers ready for work at the SCD. Kari Ódèn Hansen has seven volunteers on Wednesday alone, working hard with making food and coffee, and cleaning for the participants. Open servicesThe conference is open also for people wanting to drop in to experience the fellowship in Centralkirken these days. Saturday (September 5th) , there is a gospel service with Ray Walter, band and singers, at 7.30 pm. Sunday (September 6th) there will be a closing service at 11 am.
