Mission Interns: Participate in this three- year mission experience for young adults ages 20- 30. Work focuses on the Christian call to engage in issues such as conflict resolution, peace with justice, economic development, and rights of indigenous peoples. Serve 16 months in an international placement living and working in community. Return to a home-country placement for another 16 months to make links between the global and the local and become an advocate for justice.

I have faced some incredible challenges since then but have also met some incredible people along the way. Yet there are times when I have asked myself, "Why am I here in South Africa?"

Have you ever heard a song and thought, "I'd love my choir to learn that song?" Bill Rose, Director of Music at St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church, Lake Charles, Louisiana, was participating in a Global Praise reading session when he had that thought. After a discussion with Global Praise staff, he decided to arrange the song "Yo sé que estás aquí" [#2, Global Praise 3, ©2004, GBGMusik] for his choir.

Espoir, the French word for "hope," is what we have named the education training center that officially opened today in DeDeur, South Africa. It is located just south of Johannesburg, southwest of my home here, and southeast of our new SHADE office.

The Rev. Fuxia Wang serves as a Church and Community Worker with the Chinese community in Norman and South Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is believed to be the first United Methodist missionary from the People Republic of China.

New York, NY, September 10, 2010--The summer of 2010 was busy for the Rev. Fuxia Wang, her first as a missionary of The United Methodist Church. Assigned to ministry with the Chinese community in Norman, Oklahoma, and vicinity, she may well be the first United Methodist missionary from mainland China to serve in the United States.

Excitement continues to build as the 10-Fold campaign draws closer. 10-Fold, a 10-day interactive campaign to promote increased awareness, knowledge, and advocacy of mission, begins October 10. In addition to the educational element of 10-Fold, project sponsors have pledged to give $1 for each person who signs up as an advocate of a project during the campaign, up to a maximum of $10,000.
