Carey Cooper helped open the Susanna Wesley Preschool for the children of Camanchaj.
Jesus keeps showing up at our back door unannounced in the form of a 4'9" Mayan woman with no front teeth. Jesus is going by the name Isabel and has a deviously cute baby named Norma slung over his back. You wouldn't believe how loud Jesus knocks and how persistent he can be with the door. The man, will simply not go away! Let me be perfectly honest with you...Jesus is really starting to tick me off!

It used to be that Native Americans cared for the earth like no others. Not only did we believe that we came from the earth, but we literally believed that the earth was our mother. Then, as time passed on and human technology abounded, we began to get careless and reckless in our way of life. Now our caring for the earth seems to have dropped by the wayside.

Branches UMC after a fire, possibly intentionally set, destroyed the building and playground.

In the dark, early morning hours of Pentecost Sunday, May 23, 2010, fire engulfed and destroyed Branches United Methodist Church in Florida City, Florida, home of the Branches program, a holistic ministry that provides opportunities for children, youth, and families to know Christ, become better educated, and make positive life choices.

The French and English Hymnbook was a collective effort by Cameroonian church leaders, Global Ministries missionaries, Global Praise, and the North Texas Annual Conference.

This month, the more than 1,000 United Methodists of the Cameroon mission have one more reason to celebrate, praise, and sing--the release of the hymnbook, O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing/Mille Voix Pour Chanter Tes Louanges. This useful and creative hymnal was made, printed, and published by and for Cameroonian United Methodist worshipers. The hymnal contains hundreds of hymns, some from the African and Wesleyan traditions, some in French and English.

United Methodist Bishop Heinrich Bolleter, Geneva Secretary of the World Methodist Council, offers his observations on Edinburgh 2010, the ecumenical world mission conference held in Edinburgh, Scotland, on June 2-6. The event marked the one hundredth anniversary of a landmark missionary conference in 1910. Bishop Bolleter, who is retired from the Southern and Century Europe Central Conference, represented the World Methodist Council on a committee of "stakeholders" that assisted in planning the 2010 conference, which had the theme "Witnessing to Christ Today."

I have been at the Methodist Guest House for about six weeks as the Volunteer Management Coordinator for the Haiti Response Plan. It has been an exciting and challenging time to ramp up a new effort to help the Eglise Methodiste d'Haiti respond to the effects of the January 12th earthquake.

While some members of the UMVIM team in Fond Doux worked in demolition, others conducted an impromptu Bible School for the children.
On May 17, 2010 our UMVIM work team, led by Nick Elliott from the Southeast Jurisdiction, arrived in Haiti, the poorest nation in the western hemisphere. Upon clearing immigration and customs the results and images of the devastating earthquake began to unfold.

In an impoverished community where drug and gang-related arrests are among the highest in the city, the Better Community Developers, Inc. (BCD), a Little Rock community-based organization, is instilling hope. BCD Inc., which grew out of a ministry of the Theressa Hoover United Methodist Church, offers innovative programs that tackle the root causes of substance abuse and helps individuals overcome addictions.

The "Common Call" of "Witnessing to Christ Today," the World Mission Conference held in Edinburgh, Scotland, June 2006, contains nine "calls" to all Christians on theme related to unity and mission.
