Two little girls who wanted to come to church have helped Jennifer Battiest come to terms with her anger over how the church has treated Native Americans. The daughter of two United Methodist pastors – Samuel, a Choctaw from Oklahoma, and Margaret, a Choctaw from Mississippi – Battiest said she has long had conflicted feelings about her Christian connections, even as she has embraced a calling from God.

Marian Wright Edelman is the founder and president of the Children’s Defense Fund.
Sending thousands of postcards to Capitol Hill and other actions like it have formed the basis of a long partnership between the Children's Defense Fund and United Methodist Women, Edelman told directors of the Women's Division, United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries, on April 26 during the division's spring meeting.

This canoe shed at Wesley Acres Camp in North Dakota was destroyed by an onslaught of ice and water when the nearby creek flooded.

In the space of 10 minutes, a torrent of water and ice rushed through the grounds of Wesley Acres (United Methodist) Camp near Valley City, North Dakota, destroying the canoe shed and overflowing much of the property.
