Winchester, Virginia, October 25, 2009-- A "Service of Life and Resurrection for The Rev. Dr. James C. Logan," 77, was held in Winchester, Virginia, on Saturday, October 24. The long-time professor at Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, DC, died on October 17 at a medical center in Winchester.

Maria Skrivankova, youth worker at the United Methodist mission in Kosice, Slovakia, adjusts a kite during an outing with young people. The ministry with children and teenagers started four years ago and is now developing into a worshiping community.
In early October, regular Sunday worship services were started at the United Methodist mission in Kosice, the second largest city in Slovakia. The worship is an outgrowth of a ministry with children and youth begun four years ago.

The Rev. Elaine Barnes, a retired pastor in the Eastern Pennsylvania Annual Conference and a former staff member of the General Board of Global Ministries, died on October 14 in Philadelphia.

She retired from the conference in 2003 after a long ministry beginning in 1968 with her first pastoral appointment.
