the events of one day;
however God's love for us did not change.
Christ's call for us to love
God, our neighbors, and ourselves did not
change. We grieve for all of the
lives that were lost on September 11 and its
aftermath. We pray for
God's guidance as we offer "Love in the Midst
of Tragedy" and continue to
support all of our other mission programs around

God, We've Known Such Grief and Anger: A Hymn for the Anniversary of September 11

God, we've known such grief and anger
As we've heard your people cry.
We have asked you, "How much longer?"
We have sadly wondered, 'Why?'
In this world of so much suffering,
May we hear your word anew:
'I will never leave you orphaned;
I will not abandon you.'

New Phase of Prayer Life Discovered

I have been a faithful United Methodist all my
life. Although no one can claim perfection in the
practice of one’s faith, I have tried very hard
my whole life to be faithful to Christ’s
teachings. So when the first plane crashed into
one of the World Trade Center towers on September
11, 2001, I began a new phase of my prayer life.
I cried out to God in much the same way as the
psalmist. And my cries grew more urgent as the
day progressed.
