The Imagine No Malaria Campaign and Why It Just Might Work
Before 1960, when the Democratic Republic of
the Congo was still under Belgian rule, an
interwoven series of canals crisscrossed the
countryside. The canals carried storm water away
from the villages to the rivers, keeping
standing water at a minimum. This gave
mosquitoes little chance to breed in and around
the villages where the Belgian administrators
lived.

The Faces of Clean Water in Nicaragua
For untold years, women and children in Las
Mesas, Nicaragua, walked two miles each way to
get water. Grandmothers, mothers, and children
made this trip several times a day, every day--
walking in flimsy flip-flops across sharp rocks
and hard-baked soil. They were going to fetch 5-
gallon buckets of water, each filled bucket
weighing 40 pounds.

God's Renewed Creation: The Council of Bishops' Call to Hope and Action
God's creation is in crisis. We, the Bishops
of The United Methodist Church, cannot remain
silent while God's people and God's planet
suffer. This beautiful natural world is a loving
gift from God, the Creator of all things seen
and unseen. God has entrusted its care to all of
us, but we have turned our backs on God and on
our responsibilities.

Caring for the Earth
It used to be that Native Americans cared for
the earth like no others. Not only did we
believe that we came from the earth, but we
literally believed that the earth was our
mother. Then, as time passed on and human
technology abounded, we began to get careless
and reckless in our way of life. Now our caring
for the earth seems to have dropped by the
wayside.

The Green Team: Second Sunday in Lent, February 28, 2010
Today's gospel text is Jesus' lament over
Jerusalem. "How often have I desired to gather
your children together as a hen gathers her
brood under her wings, and you were not
willing!" Lent is a time for all of us to
examine our willingness to be disciples of Jesus
Christ.
