Several childhood vaccines and the Rho Gam shot given to some women during pregnancy contained Thimerosal until 1999 when companies removed it gradually. For the first two years of his life, Wesley appeared to be a normal, healthy child - smiling in baby pictures with his brother and family.

By his third birthday, however, Wesley's childhood pictures changed. The life in his eyes appeared lost. His smile was no longer there. His mother could scream his name, and Wesley would not respond.

The Navajo women burning cedar at the United Methodist Center, Farmington New Mexico As the United States celebrates Thanksgiving, school children are sent home with pictures of Pilgrims and Native Americans sharing a feast in harmony. However, for many indigenous women, Thanksgiving does not hold such fond memories, says Andele Foutz.  Foutz, is executive director of the Navajo United Methodist Center in Farmington, New Mexico, one of the national mission institutions supported by United Methodist Women and the denomination.

The Laos women crossed the Mekong river in small numbers - much like refugees --leaving their homeland. On the other side, they were met by Hmong women from the United States, who had once been refugees themselves. The difference between them -- the women from Laos would return to their country after a few days, putting themselves at risk to make the lives of other women and children better.

Mission team, organized by Rev. Harun and Ann Gatobu, planting a goodbye ceremony tree for remembrance. In the Mulathankari village in Meru district of Kenya, the young people attend school then leave for the cities where they can find jobs and opportunities. But the city is not home. During mission outreach at a camp for tsunami-displaced people in Bateilik, Indonesia, Deaconess Kyung Za Yim, Women's Division President, shares a digital photo with children and young people. Kyung Za Yim, president of the United Methodist Women's Division, went to North Sumatra, Indonesia, January 12-16, with an eye for the concerns of women and children. She left the tsunami-devastated area knowing that women needed to be intentional in ensuring relief and rebuilding efforts are reaching other women.
