Missionaries Travel Far But Stay Close
Missionaries who train together are called a
class of missionaries. And this class took many
classes. For about two weeks leading up to their
sending forth or commissioning on October 12th,
2010, the missionaries spent their days in
workshops taught by Global Ministries'
missionaries, staff, consultants, and each
other.

One hundred six new congregations were started
outside the United States in 2009 through a
series of United Methodist Mission Initiatives
sponsored by the General Board of Global

Mongolia to Honduras--are what Thomas Kemper,
the mission agency's new chief executive,
calls "front-line efforts" in pursuit of the
denomination's goal of "making disciples of
Jesus Christ for the transformation of the
world."

UMCOR Supports Tsunami’s “Hidden” Emergencies
Fishing gear in Somalia, home repairs in India,
and school buildings in Thailand are three
examples of aid United Methodists are providing
in tsunami-damaged areas—but often unnoticed by
international media.
This work is being done by the United Methodist
Committee on Relief (UMCOR) in collaboration
with ecumenical partners that are able to
deliver long-term relief and rehabilitation

Hmong Women Risk To Make Others' Lives Better
The Laos women crossed the Mekong river in small
numbers - much like refugees --leaving their
homeland.
On the other side, they were met by Hmong women
from the United States, who had once been
refugees
themselves. The difference between them -- the
women
from Laos would return to their country after a
few days,
putting themselves at risk to make the lives of
other
women and children better.
