United Methodist Mission Delegation to Attend Global Events on Migration, Development, and Human Rights
New York, NY, November 15, 2011--A delegation
of 18 Methodists hosted by the United Methodist
General Board of Global Ministries will attend
the
People's Global Action on Migration, Development,
and Human Rights (PGA) in Geneva, Switzerland,
from November 28 to December 2, 2011, as part of
the mission agency's focus on global migration
and
poverty.

Mission Agency Executive Pledges Strong Support For New Missionary Training and Assignments: Mission Leadership in a Time of Organizational Transition
The General Secretary of the General Board of
Global Ministries today voiced the
agency’s “firm commitment” to the assignment of
new missionaries and to the support of
missionaries already in service.
In his semi-annual report to the Board’s
directors, the Rev. R. Randy Day said that he
expected new young adult missionaries and new
deaconesses to be commissioned in 2004. He
indicated that the Board will achieve a
sustainable level of mission personnel by 2005.

Autonomous churches to join Swiss, French United Methodists
The United Methodist Annual (regional)
Conference of Switzerland/France has agreed with
a request from an autonomous group of French
Methodist churches to join the denomination.
Meeting in early June in Basel, Switzerland, the
conference delegates voted to integrate the
Methodist Church in France into The United
Methodist Church during the next three years,
according to the Rev. Peter Siegfried, a
conference member and an executive with the
United Methodist Board of Global Ministries.
