Primetimers Explore "All Creatures, Great and Small" along South Georgia's Historic Golden Isles
Although participants also had time to relax
under Spanish moss-draped live oaks, they
primarily enjoyed multiple opportunities to
explore and learn about the natural wonders of
St. Simons, Jekyll and Sapelo, all barrier
islands along Georgia's southern coast. From
November 9 to 14, 2008, the group soaked up
information from local experts, who shared how
the islands are actively engaged in
preservation and environmental issues,
preserving and restoring natural treasures in
the coastal marshlands and beaches.

Hallelujah Moment from Kentucky 'If this is retirement, we are enjoying it!'
There is light at the end of the financial tunnel
for Red Bird Missionary Conference. Although the
conference has dug deeply into their reserves to
pay the salaries of local pastors, it has not
deterred them from looking outward and focusing
on how they themselves can participate in God's
mission to the world.

Love and Forgiveness
I miss being a kid, when I was being fed and
clothed by my parents and older siblings and life
seemed to be so satisfying. On the other hand, I
am happy to be a grown-up. Our world needs grown-

lives.

Songs of Christmas - December 25, 2006
You can look at Christmas prayers, songs, and
meaning differently according to your life
experiences. You can sing Christmas praises to
the Lord for His great mercies in a routine way
or with spirit. You can make Christmas morning a
time of faith or a time of haste.

The executive committee of the United Methodist
Council of Bishops has approved a proposal to the
denomination's finance agency to pilot a pension
program in the church's Liberia Annual

in a prior United Methodist pension plan that
existed until 1982.

Missionary Minute: June 18, 2006
Rural southeast Arkansas, where I serve, is
saturated with drug abuse, high unemployment,
industry flight, poverty and teen pregnancy. I
thank God the Wesley/Bailey Chapel Project
addresses these issues. We work with at-risk
children and youth, low-income families, older
adults and persons affected by HIV/AIDS. We offer
affordable child care, pay utility bills, provide
food, repair and renovate homes, and tutor
students. Much of our outreach is interfaith
through the Delta Ministers Fellowship which
includes more than 20 pastors from several
denominations.

Every UMCOR Kit Counts
Sometimes it may seem that sending a health or
school kit is too small compared to the immense
needs of vulnerable people worldwide. I just
returned from a visit to Armenia, Azerbaijan, and
Georgia, where I participated in several kit
distributions. I can tell you from experience that
every kit really does count.
