Louise Charles is a congregational caregiver who accompanied the Rev. J. David Barkley to visit church members. Lake Etang sits atop the Grand Etang Mountain, highest point in southern Grenada, 1910 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. Across the rippling, deep waters of the lake are woods and mountain peaks. Many trees are leafless trunks left not by fire but by the fury of Hurricane Ivan, which made landfall on the island in September 2004. Other trees have begun to sprout new leaves, soon to be tested by the winds.
