Above, Through, In: Our Deep Connection
Our desire to connect with family and friends
reaches a peak during Advent and the holiday
season. Few people want to be alone on Christmas
and New Year's Eve, and many feel distant from
God.

Labor Day: A Faith-Filled Day for Worker Justice
Maybe you're like me and you consider Labor
Day weekend simply the last blast of summer--
back-to-school thoughts, picnics, and family
fun. But I've come to realize the holiday has a
deeper meaning. Labor Day is a legacy of 19th
century American workers who fought for and won
legal guarantees to fairness and justice in our
workplaces.

Hallelujah Moment from Japan: "God Brought These Women!"
I met Tereza in one of my visits to the
detention center. She is married, the mother of
two boys aged seven and five. Alily, the father
of the two little boys, is applying for refugee
status, thus the detention. The impact of the
detention is a long struggle.

God's Renewed Creation: The Council of Bishops' Call to Hope and Action
God's creation is in crisis. We, the Bishops
of The United Methodist Church, cannot remain
silent while God's people and God's planet
suffer. This beautiful natural world is a loving
gift from God, the Creator of all things seen
and unseen. God has entrusted its care to all of
us, but we have turned our backs on God and on
our responsibilities.

strong new congregations takes a "theology of
being in mission" as much as a "theology of
attraction," according to a United Methodist
bishop who holds a key position in his
