Bible Translation as Mission
New York, NY, April 29, 2011--The 400th
anniversary of the King James Version (KJV) of
the
Bible is a dramatic reminder of a central theme
in
the Protestant mission movement: the drive to
translate Scripture into the everyday languages
people use.

Methodist Diversity in Europe on the Rise
Berlin, Germany, February 2, 2011--As in the
Day of Pentecost in Acts 2, people who spoke
different languages joined a symphony of prayers
and praise to God: French, Italian, Twi, Shona,

Relevance X Connects Youth with Mission
Are you ever hungry during church? Regardless
of whether I eat breakfast or skip it entirely
before the service, I am always hungry. This is
especially the case on Sundays when communion is
offered. Oddly, though, on these Sundays I am
never hungry after I take communion. There is
something quite literally filling about the
Eucharist--the Body of Christ--that sustains me.

Concerning Immigrants "My Church Has Taught Me"
Milan, Italy, March 30, 2010--For nearly a
decade, the small Protestant community in Italy
has been assisting immigrant brothers and
sisters from all over the world. The Chiesa
Evangelica Metodista di Milano, to which I
belong, is a testimony of this phenomenon.

Global Justice Volunteers: The Program
New York, NY, October 7, 2008--"The most
important and challenging part of the program is
the cross-cultural experience," said Beth
Buchanan, Program Coordinator for Mission
Volunteers, Global Ministries. "It is the
building of these relationships that develop you
as leaders and help you decide what you believe.
That's what we're about. Challenge and be
challenged. Change and be changed."

Hallelujah Moment From Ghana "Then I heard the voice of the Lord…"
Sixteen missionary candidates responded to the
call by saying “Here I am, send me!”
What an historical event! The sixteen trained
from May 11 to 27, 2007 in Accra, Ghana to become
missionaries. Although The United Methodist
Church has sent missionaries all over the world,
these missionaries have always been trained in
the US. This is the first such training to be
held in Africa.

A Farmer's Stories of the Kingdom
William Zawolo is from Pledeye, a village about
10 miles from Ganta. An experienced farmer,
responsible for his wife, 5 children and perhaps
an extended family, he complained when I met him
about the lack of imported chemical pesticide and
fertilizer. He was convinced that this was
responsible for the high incidence of pests and
crop disease on his land. ...
