London, September 1, 2009--The island nation of Fiji has been suspended from the British Commonwealth for refusing to move toward democratic elections next year, according to a report by the BBC on September 1. Jacques Akasa Umembudi is a Global Ministries missionary assigned to the Wings of Caring Ministry, based in Kananga, Democratic Republic of Congo.

Information from both the family of missionary-pilot Jacques Umembudi and Bishop David K. Yemba of Central Congo confirms that there were no life-threatening injuries in the crash of a small mission plane at an airstrip near Lodja, Democratic Republic of Congo, on June 12.
