Methodist Diversity in Europe on the Rise
Berlin, Germany, February 2, 2011--As in the
Day of Pentecost in Acts 2, people who spoke
different languages joined a symphony of prayers
and praise to God: French, Italian, Twi, Shona,
German, Russian, Estonia, and English.

Mission Leader Welcomes G-8 Pledge to Combat Hunger
New York, NY, July 10, 2009--The chief
mission executive of The United Methodist Church
welcomed a pledge by the world's eight richest
nations to provide $20 billion of agricultural
production and food security to the poorest
countries over the next three years.

nations extending from Poland in the north to

Creating Peace A World without Nuclear Weapons
The United States has more nuclear weapons than any
other country on the planet. More and more countries
possess nuclear weapons or have acquired the
technology to make them. The tremendous resources
that nations invest in nuclear arms development could
be spent on education, health care, and anti-poverty
programs.

Primetimers Program goes to Sondernach, France
The Primetimers program of GBGM held it second
event in 2003 in Sondernach, France. Through
the Primetimers program, United Methodists over
the age of 50 come together for a time of
education, mission service, and faith-filled
reflection. The France event took place
September 15-26 at the Landersen Retreat
Center. Twenty-four older adults gathered
together for an event entitled “The France Your
Never Knew – Faith, History, Cuisine, and
Culture.” Dot Savage attended the event and
shared her reflections from her time on this

The France You Never Knew - Faith, History, Cuisine and Culture: Primetimers Event 2003
In the gorgeous French setting, participants will
learn and experience French culture and cuisine,
study with experienced lecturers the life and
work of the Nobel Prize winning humanitarian,
Albert Schweitzer, Methodism in France and learn
about the war history of the Alsace Area.
Participants will spend one day in three
countries, France, Switzerland and Germany.

Autonomous churches to join Swiss, French United Methodists
The United Methodist Annual (regional)
Conference of Switzerland/France has agreed with
a request from an autonomous group of French
Methodist churches to join the denomination.
Meeting in early June in Basel, Switzerland, the
conference delegates voted to integrate the
Methodist Church in France into The United
Methodist Church during the next three years,
according to the Rev. Peter Siegfried, a
conference member and an executive with the
United Methodist Board of Global Ministries.
