Maria Skrivankova, youth worker at the United Methodist mission in Kosice, Slovakia, adjusts a kite during an outing with young people. The ministry with children and teenagers started four years ago and is now developing into a worshiping community. In early October, regular Sunday worship services were started at the United Methodist mission in Kosice, the second largest city in Slovakia. The worship is an outgrowth of a ministry with children and youth begun four years ago.

Professor Meeli Tankler, new president of the Baltic Methodist Theological Seminary, was the unanimous choice of the board of trustees and of the Estonia Annual Conference.

Tallinn, Estonia--The 15th anniversary of the largest United Methodist theological seminary in Europe was marked by the installation of a new president and an espiscopal address linking the role of theological schools to the practice of Christian mission.

New York, NY, June 25, 2009--The 100th anniversary of Methodism in Russia was celebrated in St. Petersburg in an ecumenical service of worship in mid-June. The occasion also marked the 130th year since Methodism arrived in what was then Czarist Russia, in the region that is today the Baltic countries.

The Rev. Sam Duree has built has built and sold about 4,000 birdhouses of 35 designs.

New York, NY, March 17, 2009--The Rev. Sam Duree is a man with a mission cause: supporting the United Methodist Theological Seminary in Russia. His mission means: birdhouses--$100,000 worth of birdhouses, designed, built, and sold with proceeds going to the school in Moscow.

Gražina Bielousova on the day of her commissioning. November 14, 2008--A huge smile appeared on the face of Gražina Bielousova as she received bouquet after bouquet of flowers in honor of her commissioning as a Probationary Elder. Gražina became the sixth Lithuanian indigenous and the second woman pastor in a country where a short time ago there were none.
