Bearing Fruit in Cuba
By allowing the Spirit to move in creative
ways, the Methodist Church in Cuba is dancing,
singing, and spreading scriptural holiness over
the land. Since 1999, the church has grown from
8,000 to 36,000 members. Bishop Ricardo Pereira
encourages congregations to live out their
Wesleyan theology in ways that are uniquely
Cuban.

never
grown anything before; I didn't even know how to
grow a tomato. I owe everything to ASPROCAFE.
They
saved my life. They trained me; they gave me

Deaf Ministries at Christ Church and Around the World
“Laying on hands” has a special meaning for the
people who are deaf-blind and can experience God
through touching the hands of someone who is
interpreting into sign language. Every Sunday,
about six people have the Sunday worship service
placed in their hands like this at the United
Methodist Christ Church for the Deaf in
Baltimore, Maryland.

Staying the Course in "Mega-Disaster" Rehabilitation
How well do relief operations follow through with
rehabilitation after "mega-disasters" such as the
earthquake and tsunamis that swept the Indian
Ocean on December 26? "In big, complex recoveries
from mega-disasters, UMCOR plans to be in place
for a long time-- for years," said the Rev.
Kristin Sachen of the United Methodist Committee
