United Methodist-Related Seminary in Costa Rica Joins Latin American HIV/AIDS Study Program
New York, NY, December 1, 2010--The Latin
American Biblical University, an ecumenical
school in Costa Rica with strong United
Methodist ties, is one of four seminaries in
Latin America that is developing a master's
degree in theology with an emphasis on HIV/AIDS
ministries.

Taking a Walk: A New Year at Latin American Biblical University

walk to work each day is very short, only about
four city blocks, but there are times when those
five minutes are so filled with the presence of
the Lord that my heart is full for the day.

Mission Leader René Bideaux Dies at 77
New York, NY, May 18, 2009--The Rev. René O.
Bideaux, a former United Methodist missionary
and mission agency executive, died on May 13 in
Asheville, North Carolina, and was memorialized
at the Biltmore United Methodist Church there on
May 17. He was 77.

Costa Rica Partnership to Train Hispanic Ministers
A partnership with a university in Costa Rica to
train Hispanic United Methodist pastors in the
United States addresses a critical new building
block in efforts to develop educated leaders for
The United Methodist Church.
Under an agreement between Latin American
Biblical University and the United Methodist
General Board of Higher Education and Ministry, a
pilot program will launch in August with an
initial enrollment of about 15 students. The
agreement was signed in May.
