 "Today All the People Laughed!"

Eluzinete Pereira Garcia is a missionary of the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church assigned to a public health ministry in Latin America and the Caribbean. Based in Brazil, she coordinates and promotes Comprehensive Community-Based Primary Health Care (C.C.B.P.H.C.), a primary healthcare program in partnership with CIEMAL, the Council of Evangelical Methodist Churches in Latin America and the Caribbean.

With tears in his eyes, Bishop Juan Cardona said to me, "Lu, I don't know what you did with the people of the town, but for three years we have been having recreational activities with the children, bringing psychologists, clowns, etc., and we were never able to make them smile. When I arrived, I saw the people's happiness and I couldn't understand what was happening when today all the people laughed!"
