Gospel Seeds & Mission Harvests
The sowing of the gospel in the hearts and minds
of the Latino peoples has born bountiful fruit
that will nourish the future church in the
Western Hemisphere. The mission witness of the
British Methodists in the Caribbean and of the
United Methodists throughout the Latin American
and Caribbean region, as well as parts of the
United States, has been faithful to Wesley’s
vision of the whole world as one parish.

United Methodist General Board of Global
Ministries, uses the interest from nearly $1.5
million in principal to finance the projects.

Roots of Latin American/Caribbean Methodism Go Deep
The roots of Methodism in the Latin

Committee Examines Ties with Latin American/Caribbean Methodists
United Methodists need to have stronger
connections with independent Methodist churches
in Latin America and the Caribbean.
That’s the premise underlying a special committee
created by the 2004 United Methodist General
Conference to study the denomination’s
relationship with autonomous churches in the
region. Bishop Minerva Carcaño of Phoenix is the
committee chairperson.

UMCOR Hotline, June 21, 2005
Civil unrest in Haiti has led United Methodist
Volunteers in Mission to cancel all summer mission
trips to Haiti. Heavy spring rains in the Highwood
Mountains of north-central Montana destroyed
bridges in the area. Northern Chile was rocked by
a powerful earthquake last week. Food shortages
from the lack of rain, locust infestations, and a
breakdown of civil infrastructures are causing
famines in southern, western, and eastern African
nations.
