This article, which was originally published in New World Outlook magazine, features 10 Essential Steps for dealing with hate groups before and after they come to town.
Original Black Church Fires Guide (1996) Mostly of historical interest, it includes:
1. Participate in the Hate Crime Data Collection Project Monitoring hate and violence in the media. This document explains how you can help.
2. Help rebuild churches. South-Eastern Jurisdiction's United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) is working with GBGM. You need not be United Methodist to volunteer. Those seeking to assemble work teams should submit the Burned Churches Help Form.
3. Send financial assistance for the Black churches to the General Board of Global Ministries's Advance # 982700. Make your check payable to your local church or Advance GCFA.
Be sure to write the Advance code number and project name on the check. For local church and annual conference credit, give your gift to your local church treasurer, who will send it to your conference treasurer. You can also give by credit card.
Gifts are forwarded to Advance GCFA, P.O. Box 9068, GPO, New York, NY 10087-9068. (Please specify "Black Church Burnings" on your check.)
